Andy McCafferty is a London-based artist and tutor, alumnus of the Slade School of Fine Art with a Post Compulsory PGCE from the Institute of Education. He collaborates on interdisciplinary projects to reconcile questions of art and science.
Awarded an AHRC grant, Andy explored how the brain responds to sensory stimuli engaging the body, and visualised concepts in physics. He has exhibited in shows in the UK and abroad including ARSciE at Imperial College, The London Group's Centenary Open, Bridges Conference, Eindhoven, Mind Games - Art Alive, Sydney and his artwork is available at the Wellcome Collection.
Andy teaches creative digital skills for artists and entrepreneurs and delivers funded digital skills projects supporting vulnerable learners. He is passionate about how his practice could help people therapeutically.
Awarded a grant from Arts Council England, he is currently innovating art therapy practice through participatory digital art–proposing a novel tool empowering people to see and feel a healing process. He exhibited early research in Berlin, a MacMillan fundraising event, delivered a presentation at The National Gallery and was nominated to submit a proposal to Digital International Creative Arts Therapies Symposium.
